Welcome to Green Leaders

Environmental challenges need bold ideas, collaborative action, and a new generation of leaders ready to make a difference. Green Leaders is an interactive online course designed to equip young women and youth with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to become environmental changemakers in their communities and beyond.

Developed within the Amazons: Empowering European Girls to Become Environmental Leaders project, this course combines practical leadership training, real-world environmental examples, inspiring case studies, and hands-on activities to transform learning into action.

Module 1: Introduction to Environmental Leadership
Overview of key concepts (leadership vs management, leadership styles, why women’s leadership matters in environmental contexts). Presents the state of climate/environmental challenges and the need for inclusive leadership.

Module 2: Personal Leadership Development
Learners will assess their personal strengths and weaknesses to better understand concepts of self-confidence, imposter syndrome, and growth mindset. They will learn strategies to develop communication and self-management skills essential for leadership.

Module 3: Team Building and Collaboration
Learners will Understand the dynamics of effective teamwork and the leader’s role in a team, learn techniques for building inclusive, high-performing teams (including communication and conflict resolution skills), as well as learn about the value of diversity and collaboration in environmental projects.

Module 4: Project Management for Environmental Initiatives
Learners will understand the basic stages of project management (planning, execution, monitoring, closing) in the context of environmental work. They will learn how to set SMART goals, make an action plan, and manage resources for a project, as well as gain awareness of common pitfalls in project implementation and how to mitigate them.

Module 5: Advocacy and Public Engagement
Learners will understand the concept of advocacy and why it’s important in environmental leadership, learn basic skills for effective advocacy including storytelling, public speaking, and use of media, as well as learn to identify ways they can engage their community or influence decision-makers on environmental issues.
